DUDLEY Market will continue to be run by Tudor Markets after the company was granted a two-year extension by Dudley Council.

Tudor took over the running of the market in March 2017, with the option for a two-year extension subject to performance.

Occupancy rates are up 13 per cent for July 2018 to June this year, compared to July 2016 to June 2017, according to council figures.

Tudor will now manage the market until the end of June 2021, after which it will be re-tendered.

Councillor Ian Kettle, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said: "I am confident that traders and shoppers alike will be pleased with our decision that Tudor Markets should continue working with us for another two years.

"The market is the beating heart of Dudley town and I am confident that together we will continue to make some fantastic improvements there."

James Willis, managing director at Tudor Markets, said: "Dudley Market is a colourful and vibrant market that attracts thousands of shoppers every year.

"We are delighted to be able to continue our work with Dudley Council and I am confident that we will continue to build upon the market’s popularity over the next two years."
