THE search is on to recruit more school crossing patrols across the borough, in a bid to make the streets safer for children.

Dudley Council is inviting applications now as the authority looks to recruit in 11 locations across the borough, with posts available in Dudley, Stourbridge, Wollaston, Wordsley, Halesowen and Kingswinford.

Candidates can ring up for an informal chat to help decide if the role is for them, or apply online through WM Jobs.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environmental, highways and street services, said: "Our patrols do a fantastic job helping to keep children safe on the roads, and they quickly become a key part of their local community.

"Many of our patrols love the role so much they stay with us for decades.

"This is a rewarding job and I hope that anyone who can give their time to this special role will consider applying."

All posts advertised are permanent and the local authority hopes to have successful candidates in post and on the streets by the end of the year.

For an informal chat to discuss the vacancies, call 01384 815401 or apply online at https://www.wmjobs.co.uk/job/61211/school-crossing-patrol/

Each shift is typically 45 minutes and posts are for term time only, running at 39 weeks a year.
