THE BREXIT party has announced its candidate for Halesowen and Rowley Regis who hopes to unseat sitting MP James Morris in the event of a general election.

Solicitor Andrew England Kerr, a 60-year-old who owns three businesses, has been selected as the Brexit Party's candidate - ready to fight for the sought-after Parliamentary seat when the next election is called.

Birmingham-born Andrew, who lives in Edgbaston and has a passion for kitesurfing and beekeeping, was elected as an MEP earlier this year.

He hopes to unseat Halesowen and Rowley Regis MP James Morris - who is also pro-Brexit.

Mr England Kerr said he believes in protecting the green belt, regenerating the high street and would like to see chief constables elected to improve policing.

The married father-of-two said PM Boris Johnson's bid to suspend parliament from the middle of next month, to restrict MPs' ability to block a no-deal Brexit, was "regrettable, but a necessary evil if we are going to uphold democracy."

Mr England Kerr said there could be civil unrest if the UK does not leave the EU.

He said: "I am deeply concerned over the refusal to respect the referendum result.

"I feel whichever way you voted we must respect democracy."

Mr England Kerr said: "I am a strong believer that me must protect the green belt and give incentives to use brownfield sites.

He also said he is "a passionate believer in non-discrimination and being treated equally" and that politicians should "say what they mean, mean what they say and do as they say - that's the only way to restore confidence."

The Brexit Party has announced hundreds of Prospective Parliamentary Candidates (PPCs) across the country as it readies itself for a potential general election.

Brexit Party chairman Richard Tice said: "The Brexit Party now has hundreds of Prospective Parliamentary Candidates standing ready to offer a much-needed democratic alternative which is faithful to the referendum result delivered over three years ago.

"If MPs block our departure again or vote for the terrible Withdrawal Agreement, we will hold them to account at a general election.

"The Remain dominated parliament and Cabinet can no longer ignore the will of the people because The Brexit Party has shown we are primed and prepared to hold their feet to the fire and Change Politics for Good.”
