A NETHERTON school is closed today due to travellers setting up camp on the school field.
The Link Academy is closed to students after travellers remained on the school premises, despite an eviction order being served for them to leave the school field this morning (September 5).
Students at the Simms Lane school were initially told to arrive at 11am this morning, but the school will now be closed all day after the travellers failed to leave the site.
A message on the school’s website reads: "Unfortunately, as the travellers have failed to leave site as yet, we have been advised to continue to prioritise the safety of our learners and are unable to open the school today."
A spokesman from the Dudley Academies Trust which runs the school has this afternoon confirmed the travellers left the site earlier today.
He confirmed the travellers received a high court order earlier today to leave the site and have now left the field.
The school will reopen tomorrow, Friday September 6.
