WYRE Forest’s Charlie Collyer won two medals in the Scottish National Taekwondo Championship.

The youngster bagged a silver medal for his pattern performance and a bronze in his team sparring event.

Having trained since he was just five years old, Charlie will travel far and wide to gain as much experience as he possibly can, including being a regular competitor in this Scottish event.

Supported by his mum/coach Kate, Charlie was successful to medal in two out of his three events, including an outstanding pattern performance in a tough group of talented competitors.

The tournament was hosted by the Taekwondo Association of Great Britain, the largest single taekwondo association in the UK and members will soon join the national body, the British Taekwondo Council in another prestigious tournament in just a few weeks time.

His instructor Katie Billingham said “I couldn’t be more proud of Charlie, he has been an instructors dream. He has all the tools to be a great champion one day – the passion, the discipline and the support. His mum is an absolute star supporting him like she does. I’m over the moon that Charlie has done so well in this event. The Scottish are very good at what they do and medals are hard won here.”
