DEVASTATED colleagues of a trainee paramedic "full of smiles" who was killed in a motorbike crash in Halesowen are fundraising in her memory.

Gemma Smith died four days after she was injured in a horror smash when her bike hit the central reservation on Manor Way on Saturday September 14.

The 24-year-old had been a popular trainee paramedic with West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Her fellow students and paramedics have started a gofundme appeal to raise £6k which will be given to her family to donate to charities which Gemma was passionate about.

The appeal, which can be seen at http://bit.ly/2l6V3dq, states: "Gemma, a wonderful sister, daughter, friend and student paramedic was taken from us to a tragic RTC.

"We are all truly devastated and lost for words.

"You were taken away far too soon. Our AAP2 group will never ever be the same without you Gemma, and you will be missed greatly.

"You were always full of smiles and never had a bad word to say about anybody.

"Such a caring, kind, happy girl who was passionate about being a student paramedic and always willing to help others.

"RIP beautiful... stand down, we’ve got this from here #ThinGreenLine #999family.

"The donations on this page will be given to her family during this very sad time to donate to the charity’s which Gemma was very passionate about.

"Any shares and help given to the family is immensely appreciated.

"We would like to thank everyone for your generous donations and support during this extremely sad time.

"Gemma Smith, we love you so much and will miss you greatly x"

In a statement released through West Midlands Police, Gemma's heartbroken parents said: “We are devastated at the sudden loss of our beautiful daughter; she will always be remembered as a vibrant and active young lady who had so much to give.

"As a family we respectfully request privacy to grieve during this very difficult time.”

A police investigation is ongoing to piece together the events leading up to the collision.

An inquest into Gemma's death was opened at the Black Country Coroner's Court yesterday (Tuesday).
