OVER 100 homes were left without power after a fire ripped through an underground electric box in Pensnett.

Firefighters from Dudley and Brierley Hill were called to the fire at the junction of Bryce Road and Bromley just before 11pm last night (Wednesday, October 9).

The fire was caused by a fault in a piece of underground equipment, known as a link box, according to a Western Power spokesperson.

156 homes in the area were left without power, while engineers from Western Power worked through the night to repair the equipment.

Power was restored to all the homes by 6am this morning, a Western Power spokesperson confirmed.
