AN elderly man who was hit by a car while crossing Himley Road last week has died.

Francis Wright - who was also known as Alan - was seriously injured in the collision which happened just before 6pm on October 28.

The 76-year-old pedestrian from Dudley suffered serious head injuries and passed away in hospital during the early hours of yesterday (November 5).

Police say the driver of the Kia Venga remained at the scene and has been co-operating fully with the investigation.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family of Mr Wright at this terrible time.

"We have officers from our family liaison team currently supporting those closest to him as they grieve.

“I am continuing to ask for anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to us, or has dash cam or CCTV which will assist our enquiries, to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
