A TEENAGE boy who has a string of convictions already has been sentenced for attacking a 16-year-old at Winton Rec last summer.

As reported, the boy appeared in the dock after an incident in Fitzharris Avenue, Winton at 2.45am on Wednesday, August 28 2019.

The 16-year-old, who lives in Bournemouth town centre, was one of two youngsters charged after the assault. He was initially charged with robbery, but earlier this year, prosecutors dropped the offence.

He then admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm, as well as a second charge of dishonestly receiving stolen goods which belonged to the victim.

It was claimed the complainant was approached by a group, members of which hit him over the head, causing him to lose consciousness. When he came around, the complainant was allegedly threatened with a knife and his bag stolen.

The complainant suffered minor injuries to his head, for which he was treated in hospital.The Bournemouth defendant was made the subject of a youth rehabilitation order, under which he must participate in reparation for ten days and attend appointments with a responsible officer.

He was also told to comply with an electronically-monitored curfew for three months, which will keep him inside between 10pm and 7am.

In addition, the boy was told to pay £50 compensation.

The boy also admitted two counts of the conviction of an offence during the currency of a youth offender panel referral order.

The orders were made for having 11 grams of MDMA, 12 grams of cannabis, dishonestly receiving two stolen Playstation 4 consoles, a bag and an electric razor, damaging a cycle lock and attempting to steal a bike on separate occasions.

The orders made for those offences were revoked and remade. A 16-year-old New Milton boy admitted possessing a knife and a weapon designed or adapted for the discharge of a noxious liquid in connection with the incident. He was referred to a youth offender panel for an order having effect for six months.

He must also pay a surcharge and costs, and the weapons – a blade and pepper spray – will be destroyed by police.

None of those involved in the incident can be named for legal reasons.
