POLICE spotted a cloned car which had been stolen in a recent burglary being driven at Asda in Oldbury.

West Midlands Police Traffic officers saw the car at the store on Wolverhampton Road - the driver tried to get away but he was arrested on Friday (February 29).

Officers tweeted about the incident saying: "We saw this cloned car in @Asda Wolverhampton Road Oldbury which had recently been stolen in a burglary.

"The driver made a short lived effort to escape before being arrested from it. #SaveMoneyLiveBetterArrestBaddies #TheAsdaWay."

A cloned car is a vehicle that has been given a new identity.

Officers from the traffic unit have been recovering stolen and cloned cars from all over the West Midlands.

To make a stolen vehicle appear legal, criminals put on false number plates.

They may also use a duplicate or stolen logbook.
