A DEVELOPER has submitted plans to transform a Halesowen dance school's building into apartments.

Proposals have been submitted to Dudley Council to convert the Centre Stage Dance Academy building on Malt Mill Lane into six apartments.

A design and access statement, produced by Pritpal Chana Architects for the developer, states that the apartments would have balconies and an outdoor shared terrace - with eight parking spaces in total.

It states: "The site shares an access route to the side of the property which is used for parking for the main retail units along the A0434.

"The design looks to use this route as the main access to the apartments as it will be a separated entrance from the main street alongside being conveniently placed beside the new parking facilities."

The proposed development site is opposite homes on Malt Mill Lane.

The design and access statement goes on: "The site is well placed beside shops and restaurants minimising impact of the new development.

"The parking along the frontage of the build will remain alongside three new parking spaces beside the neighbouring shared parking spaces."

The application, which is out for consultation and will come before planners, has been recommended for approval by Dudley Council highways officers.

They stated: "The applicant has made a number of changes requested to access to provide adequate facilities and reduce the likely impact of the development of neighbouring properties with an informal one way system introduced to allow access through the site and egress over the existing shared access to reduce potential vehicular conflict.

"The property will provide one allocated parking space per apartment and two visitor spaces all with smart electric vehicle charging points to be installed futureproofing the residential development".

There will be an area where cycles can be stored at the rear of the site.
