A HALESOWEN fish and chip shop that has passed through three generations of the same family has announced measures to ensure customers can still get the catch of the day.

Paul Howard, owner of Our Plaice on Dudley Road has brought in the 'call to car' scheme, where customers can ring up to order their food and have it delivered to their car by a member of staff.

The shop, which boasts a five-star hygiene rating, is run by Mr Howard's son Oliver Howard, aged 30, who is the third generation of the family to take over the business, since it opened in 1968.

Like many businesses, it is being forced to adapt in these unprecedented times as the coronavirus crisis continues.

Mr Howard, aged 58, said: “During these difficult times if people feel they don't want to come into the shop, we are offering customers the option to ring the shop to place the order which staff can take out to them on the car park and they can hand over the correct money.

"They are also get food delivered via Uber or customers can phone their order in and quickly pop into the shop to collect it.

"We have a five star hygiene rating and have religiously kept out hygiene and cleanliness updated with government guidelines.

"We have lost a lot of passing trade because of coronavirus - the people who drive past and just pop in - but out regulars are still coming and we have a few new customers who have seen our five star hygiene rating online."
