POLICE want to trace this man after a staff member at a Dudley supermarket was assaulted and racially abused.

The incident happened at Sainsbury's in Louise Street, Dudley, after the staff member tried to stop him allegedly stealing cheese.

Dudley police put out the image today (Tuesday) in the hope that someone might recognise the man.

The incident happened on Sunday May 3 at around 5.30pm.

A spokesman for Dudley Police said: "Fortunately the staff member was not seriously hurt.

They said: "We want to speak to this man after we believe a member of staff at Sainsbury’s, Louise Street, Dudley was assaulted and racially abused after trying to stop him allegedly stealing cheese.

"It happened around 5.30pm on Sunday 3 May.

"Investigations are ongoing but if you recognise him, or have any information, please contact us via Live Chat on our website or via 101.
