MUM Vicky Sumner completed 2.5 marathons in 24 hours to raise more than £3,000 for North West Ambulance Service in memory of her dad.

Vicky, from Knutsford, currently lives in Holmes Chapel, and achieved the amazing feat by completing 24 circuits of a 2.76-mile route from her home and back.

Vicky is head of business change and delivery for Barclays Bank at Radbroke Hall, and set herself a target of raising £250 for the ambulance service.

However her challenge caught the imagination of family, friends and neighbours, and she ended up raising £3,202, with Barclays pledging to add £1,000 to the total.

Vicky took on the marathons challenge in memory of her dad, John Dean, who owned Cheshire Mower Services in Knutsford, and died on May 29 at the age of 72.

Vicky completed her first London Marathon last year, raising just over £3,000 for Anorexia and Bulimia Care, an organisation of which she is a trustee.Knutsford Guardian:

She was entered into this year's marathon because of her impressive time, but would have been unable to take part because of a knee injury.

The marathon has been postponed until October because of the coronavirus pandemic, and Vicky wanted to take on a challenge in the meantime.

She was determined that her injury would not stop her, and set off from home at 4pm on Friday, finishing at 3,30pm on Saturday, being accompanied throughout the night by her husband Mark on his bike.

"The amount I have raised has been incredible, and people came out to run with me and cheer me on," said Vicky.

"The 2.76-mile route took me around the village, and I would like to thank everyone for their support and generosity."
