AS face coverings and masks become mandatory in shops, supermarkets and on public transport - incorrect wearing of them has prompted stark warnings.
A NHS ambulance service has issued new warnings to people NOT to pull their mask down to their chin - when taking a break, or eating while in public.
The service has warned of the potential hazard when pulling their mask down with a shocking graphic.
It explains that the mouth and nose may become infected after the mask has been on the 'exposed area' of an individual's neck.
This is because Covid-19 can be spread through droplets from coughts, sneezing and from speaking and may be present on other parts of your body.
Instead, you should remove the mask completely when needing to eat and drink when on public transport or in a public space.
The East Midlands Ambulance Service said: "This graphic helps to explain the importance of not pulling your mask down to your chin.
"Make sure you either have it on or off - never around your chin or neck."
