A MAN has died after a car hit a bus shelter in Sedgley last night (Friday August 7).

The incident happened in Sandyfields Road at around 11.30pm.

Police say a Ford Focus struck a bus shelter and despite the best efforts of passers-by and emergency crews the driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective sergeant Paul Hughes, of the West Midlands Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We are in the early stages of our investigations but we do not believe any other vehicles were involved.

"Our thoughts remain with this man's family, as we continue to establish the exact circumstances of this incident.

"I would urge anyone who was at the scene or may have information about the collision, who we have not yet spoken with, to get in touch with us."
