A YELLOW weather warning has been issued in Bromsgrove as thunderstorms are expected to hit the district overnight.

The hot weather will continue across the UK, with heatwave conditions for many, creating ideal conditions for thunderstorms which will bring heavy rain and increasing risks from flash flooding, lightning and hail.

Yellow thunderstorm warnings are in place across the country between now and Thursday.

In Bromsgrove, scattered thunderstorms are expected to start at around 11pm on Tuesday night, continuing into Wednesday morning.

It will remain hot as temperatures are expected to reach highs of 30C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Stormy weather is expected to subside over the course of Wednesday morning but thunderstorms are set to start again as we move into the afternoon and throughout much of Thursday.

Temperatures will cool down slightly on Thursday, with highs of 27C, and while thunderstorms are expected to ease overnight into Friday, showers will continue through to next week, with some scattered thunderstorms expected on Sunday.

The Met Office has warned there is a small chance that homes and businesses in some areas of the UK could be flooded quickly between now and Thursday, with some damage to buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes and large hail.

The storms could result in delays and some cancellations to public transport, as well as difficult driving conditions with poor visibility.

There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
