A GROUP of volunteers who tidy Halesowen collected a record amount of rubbish from the Belle Vale area in a litter-pick at the weekend.

Keep Halesowen Beautiful was out in Belle Vale on Saturday (August 8) and collected around 20 bags of litter and items including fence panels which had been flytipped, a tyre and a garden table.

Ten volunteers split up into groups with some targeting Stourbridge Road and others Drews Holloway.

Founding member Jean Green, a retired mum-of-two, (pictured below) said: "We collected a record haul of rubbish from the Belle Vale area of Halesowen.

"It was such a large mound of rubbish that people were commenting on the Nextdoor app thinking it had been flytipped!

"It's shocking that it is necessary to do this, I just wish people would use a bin or take their rubbish home.

"I just can't get my head around why people can't be bothered."
