A BOOK to celebrate the 10th anniversary of a Cumbrian music festival has been launched.

A Decade of Dancing toasts the annual Music on the Marr, between 2010 and 2019.

The four day event of music, poetry readings and a host of other acts was held every year in Castle Carrock.

The coronavirus however meant this year's event, scheduled for last month, had to be cancelled.

The 48-page book looks back over the various acts, events and people who've attended.

The proceeds will go to help musicians who's work has been affected by the lockdown and the Brampton Acting Together group, which is helping those hit by the pandemic.

It has been put together by David Helliwell, one of the festival's organisers.

He said: "The book was produced to mark the tenth Music on the Marr last year.

"It's mainly pictures of the whole ten years and the type of acts that the crowds have seen and people really enjoying themselves.

"The idea was that it would help us raise money for next year's events.

"We wanted to mark 10 years of the festival and it was a case of trying to raise the money to keep it going - then the lockdown happened but we already had it published.

"We already sold some copies but we were planning to sell it at the event.

"We didn't need the funds for this year's event so we'd thought we'd put it towards two good causes such as helping other musicians and the Brampton group."

The organisers are looking at the feasibility of staging the event next year.

David added: "We are going to see what happens in terms of social distancing at the moment.

"We are just watching to see what happens so there is no decision just yet."

The book costs £10 plus £2 postage and packing.
