AN OLDBURY mum enjoyed a post-lockdown trip to the hairdressers by having 16 inches of her hair chopped off for charity.

Like many people, Sarah Lambert flocked to the salon after months of lockdown closure however she decided to do it for a good cause by donating her locks to the Little Princess Trust.

The organisation creates wigs out of donated hair for children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

Staff at Hers and Sirs in Rowley Regis cut Sarah's hair on August 27, where she had 16 inches of her blond locks cut off.

It marked the first time she had visited the hairdresser in two years.

The mum-of-two explained: "I had lockdown hair and wanted to give something back and make someone happy, rather than my hair being thrown in the bin."

Sarah is now getting used to her new look as her long locks previously reached her waist.

The nursery nurse has so far raised around £250, smashing her target of £150, to donate to the charity to help fund the making of the wig out of her tresses.

Her eldest son, five-year-old Tyler has been massively supportive of his mum's endeavour.

She said: "I sat him down and explained what I was doing and why I was having my hair cut off. He came to the post office with me when I sent off the hair and he was telling them all about what mummy was doing."

Sarah is still raising funds for the Little Princess Trust and donations can be made at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sarah-lambert34.
