HEREFORD FC have signed former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Giles Coke.

The 34-year-old midfielder last played for Oldham Athletic but has previously played for clubs including Chesterfield and Ipswich Town.

He made 84 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday between 2010 and 2015 and has also played for Scottish side Motherwell.

“I’m really happy to bring Giles in,” said Gowling “his career speaks for itself, his pedigree, he’s been great around the lads, he drives the environment, drives it forwards.

“He’s played in the Championship for a lot of his career, so it just goes to show the pull this football club has, with the fans we get and the football club as a whole.”

Speaking to the club's Giles Coke says that a conversation with Josh Gowling over the summer led to him joining the squad.

“I had a good conversation with Josh, he told me about his ambitions and the clubs’ ambitions and I was excited by the project that he put to me," Coke said.

“I’ve come in [during pre-season], I really like the staff, the players, and the setup and I’m all ready to go.”

“The start of the season is just over a week or so away, we’ve got a few more pre-season friendlies so hopefully we can finish pre-season on a high and take that on into the season.”
