SALLY Fycun continued to show her improvement at Ross Golf Club by clinching victory in the Gordon Blake Cup.

Fycun who will become ladies captain in November has steadily dropped her handicap from 11 to seven this season.

Her golfing career began unexpectedly when her son Timmy joined the Junior Training Program at the Tim Hall School of Golf in 2015.

Fycun joined the Introduction to Golf programme for adults and the rest is history.

She won the Gordon Blake Cup with a score of nett 70 dropping her handicap to nine, before then winning the the Mary Beavis Cup Round 2 with a gross score of 162 and the Cinderford Cup Silver Division with a score of nett 77, cutting her handicap further to seven.

Fycun came second to Kate Bibby who plays off scratch, in the Jean Reynolds/Quaich Cup 36-hole competition. Bibby won with a 159 gross score, followed by Fycun with 174 and Rhian McGinley in third place with 175.

There has been some excellent golf played throughout the season in the Tuesday Ladies competitions.

The Needham Cup/August Medal was won by Jill Sutton with a score of nett 69, with Audrey Causon in second place with nett 69 and Wendy Ancrum in third place with nett 61.

Meanwhile, the Centenary Cup was won by Karen Laughlin with 34 points, closely followed by Jean Ovens with 33 points and in third place was Fycun with 32 points.

The Nine Hole Competition was won by Jill Sutton with 16 points.
