FURLOUGHED worker Sandra Howells was determined to carry on losing weight, despite lockdown.

So she Zoomed herself to a massive 60lb weight loss – at the expense of her downstairs carpet!

A mixture of Zoom calls for ‘virtual’ support meetings and indoor exercise targeted at 10,000 steps a day have made a phenomenal difference to Sandra’s life.

The Rowley Regis super slimmer has dropped 3 dress sizes after joining an NHS funded weight-loss scheme.

Sandra says her weight battle began after suffering a stroke when she was 26. Since then it has been a lifetime battle with her health issues but in January this year she joined the National Diabetes Prevention Programme with Weight Watchers in Sandwells via her GP surgery and joined Anne Wythe's workshop.

She was devastated when the country went into lockdown but virtual support helped her avoid piling on the pounds again.

"At first I didn't even know what a zoom meeting was let alone how to turn on the audio. I would now like to think I am quite proficient in using the technology and love the inspiring workshops with WW each week".

"I must admit it was a struggle to give up Burgers and Fry ups which I love. I could have quite easily gone back to my bad habits during these unprecedended times.

“But I decided to dig deep and make lockdown work for me.

“I now eat a lot more fruit and swap potatoes for a variety of fresh vegetables to keep me feeling full.

“I also realised how sedentary I had become after being furloughed from my day job in Matalan. So I dug out the Fitbit I had been given as a Christmas present and set it up.

“I haven't been out very much so in order to achieve 10,000 steps per day I walk from my front door to my back door every day - this takes me 1.5hours. The upside of this is I have now lost 60lbs with WW but the downside is I need a new hall carpet!”
