CYCLISTS across the Dudley borough can book themselves in for a free bike MOT service this month.

Dudley Council’s road safety team is running Dr Bike sessions, funded by Cycling UK, giving people chance to take their bikes along for a free MOT, with minor repairs carried out free of charge.

The remaining sessions for 2020 are planned for Monday October 26 and Wednesday October 28 (half-term week) at Mary Stevens Park in Stourbridge and Tuesday November 10 at Silver Jubilee Park in Coseley.

All sessions will be situated close to the hubs in both parks.

Sessions run from 9am to 3pm. Examination of the bikes and any repairs is free of charge and is carried out by trained technicians.

Previous sessions have been fully booked and people must book to secure a place - by calling 01384 815433 or emailing road.safety@dudley.gov.uk

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, Dudley's cabinet member for environmental, highways and street services, said: "The Dr Bike sessions are always really popular and help people feel confident taking their bikes back out onto the road

"With people being encouraged to travel by bike when they can, this is perfect timing. Our expert technicians will be on hand to give every bike a once over, undertake minor repairs and offer advice on bike maintenance and road safety."

Dr Bike sessions will adhere to government social distancing, with cleansing areas, ensuring bikes received and returned are wiped clean as appropriate.
