THE SAS are taking over an historic Black Country building – to try to sell you something.
It’s not the elite special forces, of course, this SAS stands for Special Auction Services, who are breathing life back into the Grade II listed building currently known as Aston’s in Dudley as they launch a new West Midlands service.
The firm are based in Newbury but have bought the Aston’s building to open new auction premises headed by TV expert and SAS Director Thomas Forrester.
It should be open for regular auctions in January.
He said: “It is a great building steeped in history and the name and reputation Aston’s have made for themselves is a mantel we are keen to carry.”
Director Neil Shuttleworth SAS were keen to keep Phil Aston on as a consultant for as long as his retirement enjoyment permits!
Special Auction Services started auction life 15 years ago holding six auctions selling around 4,000 lots in their first year.
Now they hold at least 50 annually and sell over 40,000 lots.
