AN OLDBURY recycling company has denied corporate manslaughter after one of its employees suffered fatal head injuries.

Father-of-one Stuart Towns died after an incident at Alutrade Ltd in Tat Bank Road, Oldbury, in July 2017.

Directors of the company Malcolm George and Kevin Pugh, and manager Mark Redfern, of Rowley Regis, were all charged with gross negligence manslaughter earlier this year.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court today (Tuesday), all three men denied involvement in Mr Towns's death and Alutrade Ltd also denied corporate manslaughter.

George, 54, Pugh, 44, and Redfern, 59, alongside the recycling company, will face trial at the same court on February 21, 2022.

Paying tribute to Mr Towns after his death, his family said in a statement: "Stuart was loving, caring, generous, full of life and always had a smile on his face.

"He was always willing to help anyone that needed it and would never expect anything in return. His huge presence is greatly missed by us all.

"Stuart was a father of one, he was a loving son and brother, a good friend with a kind heart.

"He will be forever loved and always missed."

George, of Bromsgrove, Pugh, of Sutton Coldfield, and Redfern, of Rowley Regis, were granted unconditional bail to appear in court for a further hearing in October next year.
