When Covid hit, the local community around a Dudley care home responded to give it all the support they could.

In fact the support was so overwhelming staff and residents at Broadway Halls decided they had to give something back.

And that ‘thank you’ is in the form of gifts of kindness delivered to local people through a special service set up between the home and a local home-visits care firm.

“We received many wonderful gestures, messages and gifts from local community and businesses during the pandemic,” said General Manager Rebecca Long.

In response they contacted local domiciliary care firm Home Instead who were happy for the gifts to be delivered to their offices so they could take them out to each of their clients on their daily visits. Broadway halls made gift packs for Pom-Poms 4 Loneliness charity (a local initiative to support those who are feeling lonely and isolated) for their clients.

"We are acutely aware that many people in the local community feel lonely and especially in recent months,” said Rebecca.

“We wanted to reach out to the elderly in our area in various ways, we have appreciated all of the wonderful gestures that we have received over recent months, thinking of others and showing we care is so important in today’s world so we hope these gifts bring a smile"
