INSTEAD of a Remembrance parade, Dudley is getting a Remembrance Route this year.

With parade banned Dudley North MP Marco Longhi and friends are planning to bring remembrance to the people with large poppies mounted on key roads across the borough.

The MP has so far raised nearly £1,000 for the British Legion and has been working with local residents on special poppy installations.

With the support of Richard Price and his father Mick, the owner of a large vintage world war II truck (1943), he will be driving through Dudley on Saturday and installing poppies on lampposts.

They have been given police permission and plan not start off at 12.00 at Ednam Road before moving on to Barchester and the Broadway Halls care home.

That is followed by poppy installations at: The Broadway Road; Nith Place;Salaop Street,

Highland Road; Burton Road, (A459); Kent Street (A459); Clarence Street (A459); Dudley Road (A459); Sedgley Bullring, returning towards Tipton Road (A457); finishing at Sedgley Road (West).

Marco said: “ The Royal British Legion need all the support they can get during these difficult times.

“I encourage residents to lookout of their windows on Saturday afternoon as we pass by with the truck.
