Special edition metal pin badges featuring a poppy alongside the Black Country flag have helped to raise more than £1200 for the Royal British Legion.
The badges, made by Black Country T Shirts in Dudley, were a joint venture with The Dudley Remembers committee & the Gentlemen Songsters Male Voice Choir , who have been putting on remembrance concerts in the town for a number of years.
This year, because of coronavirus restrictions, the concert was a broadcast online by Black Country Radio.
Ian Rawlings, chair of the Dudley Remembers Committee said: "This year's concert was special, poignant & really well received, but we do miss the funds from people buying tickets & putting money in the collection pots.
“So the pin badges themselves were not only a great physical representation of remembrance for people, but a vital alternative to funding the future of these events & supporting the British Legion."
Steve Pitts, Director of Black Country T Shirts: "Last year, we made 500 of these badges & they sold out in 3 weeks. This year we doubled that to 1000 and they sold out in 3 days!
“I think that tells you about the character of the people of Dudley & the respect they have for their community. Next year we will have to look at the very least doubling that figure again."
The Total figure raised of £1228 will be split between securing future events and a direct donation to the Royal British Legion.
