Hundreds of people downloaded an app to take part in a virtual jobs fair covering a large part of Dudley borough.

The two local MPs for Dudley South and Halesowen and Rowley Regis, Mike Wood and James Morris, normally hold traditional jobs fairs but with Covid restrictions they instead organised a digital event which attracted more than 30 organisations.

And they say details of many of the job opportunities are still available on the MPs’ Facebook or Twitter pages.

Organisations taking part offering opportunities in construction, public services, administration and many other sectors.

The event was sponsored by Intu Merry Hill, Black Country Housing Group, Halesowen College and Sandwell College.

Mike Wood said: “James and I were determined to find a way of helping our constituents find new opportunities, and we were so pleased how eager employers and training providers were to work with us on this new platform.

“Many constituents managed to have virtual meetings with employers and are now a step closer to a new and successful career”.

James Morris said: “Eeven though this year’s format has been uniquely different we have still had the opportunity to connect many people up with employers and training providers. I hope we will get to see some successful outcomes over the coming weeks and months.”
