PLANS to convert a former shop in Halesowen into flats have been withdrawn after objections.

An application to transform the former commercial unit on Cocksheds Lane into four self-contained flats and to convert a garage at the side of the property into a flat was put in to Dudley Council.

But it attracted objections from two nearby residents concerned about plans to convert the garage into a flat and one concerned about the impact the scheme would have on their privacy.

The application has now been withdrawn.

Halesowen News:

A response from Dudley Council's highways officers noted that the proposal would require five parking spaces, but only featured four.

But highways officers state that if the proposal was amended to feature only the four flats within the main building, it could be supported.

The response notes that: "The proposal therefore cannot be supported in its current layout, but with the reduction to four units within the main building a change of use from commercial could be supported."

The site is in the Halesowen North ward.
