AN OLDBURY house which police say was being used as a cannabis factory went up in flames in the early hours of this morning.
Fire crews were at the semi-detached house in Princess Road at around 2.30am this morning (Monday November 23).
The property was being used as a cannabis factory with plants in a number of rooms - with police now investigating.
The fire had ripped through the first floor of the property with eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fighting the flames.
Medics checked over a child - they were discharged at the scene and did not require hospital treatment.
West Midlands Fire tweeted about the incident this morning at around 6.52am: "Crews have been dealing with a four pump House Fire in Princess Rd, Oldbury.
"Severe fire in first floor of semi-detached house. 60% first floor damaged by fire, 100% of property smoke logged.
"Ventilation has been carried out. All persons accounted for. 8BA, 2 hoses, 1 Jet in use."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "It was being used as a cannabis factory with plants in a number of rooms.
"We are investigating - anyone with information can call us on 101 with incident number 245."
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance said: "We were called at 2.35am and sent one ambulance, two paramedic officers, a HART paramedic. One child was checked over as a precaution and we discharged at the scene.
"There were no other patients."
A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said crews from Oldbury, Woodgate Valley, Smethwick and Ladywood attended - with 20 firefighters on scene.
A neighbouring property also had to be cleared of smoke.
