THREE tonnes of garden waste set on fire near the M5 at Oldbury last night.

Firefighters were called to the incident on Seven Stars Road, near Park Lane which runs under the motorway, at around 7.53pm.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said a 4X4 fire service truck from Oldbury with four firefighters on board was sent to the scene to put out the flames.

He said: "We were called to Seven Stars Road, Oldbury. The fire was in an open yard near Dreams bedding.

"Our 4x4 vehicle arrived on scene within three minutes and found three tonnes of garden waste alight and unattended beneath a stretch of the M5.

"It was at a garden services company."
