THIS week’s star car is one that was a real labour of love for its owner, Mark Dennehy.

Because Mark, who lives in Worcester, built his Ford GT40 replica from scratch – having started work in 2014.

Mark’s motivation for choosing the Ford GT40 was simple – in his view it’s simply the most iconic race car.

Worcester News:

Mark said: “I starting building the car in six years ago and in January this year it became road legal.

“The car was painted in April and since then final finishing touches have been completed.

“My son helped on the build, my very understanding wife had her first run towards the end of August.

“Although she was a bit apprehensive to begin with, sitting at just 40 inches high and with no opening windows, she loved it!”

Mark is obviously sets about reaching his goals in life, for when asked what his dream/fantasy vehicle would be, he’s got a short answer: “The car I have built!” And his passion for GT40s would appear to know no bounds. His favourite famous vehicle? “Any of the Le Mans winning GT40s!”
