A YOUNG mum battling an aggressive cancer can look forward to a Christmas treat this year after a 24-hour cycle challenge raised more than £1,500 for her and her family.

Chelsea Raybould was 30 weeks pregnant when diagnosed with a tumour in her chest, and gave birth to a tiny premature baby, Lacey Mae.

It was only after the baby was born that doctors could put Chelse, from Quarry Bank, onto a regime of intensive chemotherapy – so toxic that she was warned she could not touch the baby or her son, Finley, as he might burn them.

The story sparked a community fundraising scheme to ensure a holiday for the family when Chelsea is recovered, and as part fo the effort the staff of a Stourbridge Care home organised a big charity effort

The Chandos Lodge Residential Home on Stourbridge Road set themselves a £1000 target but smashed it by raising £1513.52 for Chelsea and her young family to ensure a marvellous 2020 Christmas.

And to say a big thank you, Chelsea and family turned up as the staff huffed and puffed their way on the cycling machine at the home.

Home manager Ann Norris said Chelsea’s visit was ‘brief, yet motivating.’

She thanked the Directors of the home’s owners, Clarendon Care Group, the volunteer cyclists and everyone who donated.
