A Stourbridge student who worked on a Covid ward during lockdown has told of her joy at gaining a First Class Honours degree.
Amelia Price, aged 21, is a former pupil at Stourbridge’s King Edward VI school, who went on to Worcester University.
She has already taken up her place with the NHS, having qualified as a Nurse with First Class Honours.
As a Worcester student Amelia had helped look after Covid patients in hospital.
She said: “It was difficult at some points for lots of reasons but lovely to be able to make a difference.”
“I met lots of wonderful people, who have worked hard all through this virus and continue to do so. They are incredibly inspirational. This experience was one I learned so much from and will never forget.”
Working for her degree during the pandemic had been difficult, she said.
“I had deferred my dissertation, so I was doing my last placement, which was 37.5 hours a week, and my dissertation alongside each other which was hard. But I received a lot of support from my placement, the University, and lecturers.”
