POLICE have stepped up patrols in Hayley Green after a burglary and attempted burglary.

Burglars broke into a home on Dunstall Road and stole two watches and car keys.

Offenders also attempted to break into a home on Portsdown Road.

The incidents prompted West Midlands Police to put out an alert yesterday (Sunday January 10) warning residents to "please make sure all doors and windows are secures and all valuables are hidden out of sight.

"Local patrols will be increased within the area over the next few days and please report any suspicious behaviour immediately by dialling 999 for emergency or 101 for non-emergency."

Offenders got into the home on Dunstall Road by snapping a lock on patio doors at the rear of the property, despite the garden being enclosed by a six-foot fence and gate.

They searched kitch drawers and stole two watches and the keys to a Mini Cooper Countryman but fled without taking the car.
