A BMW driver with seven people in his car - including one person in the boot - was caught by police in Halesowen.

The driver of the BMW series 1 was reported for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition after bringing himself to the attention of police by trying to shake them off.

When he stopped officers found three people in the back seat, with one lying across the passengers and another in the boot.

It has prompted police to send out a warning about the dangers of unsecured and drunk passengers in vehicles.

PC Jardell Miller said on the neighbourhood alert system: "As I walked up to the vehicle, I could see three people in the back and one laid across them all.

"Despite this, the driver still tried to lie his way out.... then because matters couldn’t possibly have got any worse, a further passenger magically appears from the boot.

"Seven people squeezed into a small car may seem a joke and like something off a comedy show, but when you think of the serious injuries that could have been caused with all of the insecure and intoxicated passengers inside that vehicle, is it worth it?

"The driver was reported for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition, we now await a result from the ticket office."

The car was spotted by officers on patrol in Halesowen looking for anti-social driving last week and was driving towards Stourbridge.

It took a few sudden turns in an effort to shake off police, who were in a marked car behind him, but stopped when they flashed their blue lights.
