YOUNGSTERS in Halesowen had fun while celebrating national Children's Gardening Week - thanks to the town's BID team.

The BID team hosted a craft session on Friday (June 4) and invited children to paint and plant their own pots, get sticky making bird feeders and decorate butterfly sun catchers.

Local resident Justin Malpass, who recently retired, joined the team in Somers Square with a seed library he has donated.

BID Manager Vicky Rogers said: "It was so excited to see the completed woodwork.

"We will display the seed library outside the BID office.

"People are welcome to exchange or donate seeds to encourage the community of Halesowen to get blooming.

"It's another wonderful example of the fabulous community we have here in Halesowen."

The BID team are based in new offices at the former Hobbs building, which has been renovated as part of Ruskin Properties town centre development.

Business Improvement Districts are created through a ballot process to deliver additional services to local businesses.

Each business across the BID area has to pay a 1.25 per cent levy towards BID work which aims to attract interest and investment to the town.
