A BLACK COUNTRY animal charity is urging cat owners to be aware of recall of dry cat food which could be linked to potentially fatal condition.

Stourbridge and District RSPCA is making owners aware of the recall.

Fold Hill Foods is voluntarily recalling a number of its hypoallergenic cat food products, from brands including Applaws, AVA and Sainsbury’s, over a possible link to an outbreak of a potentially fatal condition, feline pancytopenia.

Stourbridge and District RSPCA Chair Liz Cormell said: "There has been a link between cats eating the affected food and developing the potentially fatal condition pancytopenia.

"The foods that have been recalled are dry food brands Applaws, Ava, Sainsbury’s and Wilko’s out of Fold Hill manufacturing facility in the UK.

"The bags affected all have the manufacturing code GB218E5009."

Feline pancytopenia causes severe fatigue, blood in vomit, urine and faeces, low appetite and unexplained bruising.
