MEMBERS of CAMRA’s Stourbridge & Halesowen branch are encouraging real ale fans to celebrate the final days of National Pub Fortnight.

The campaign, promoted by Great British Pubs, runs until Sunday August 22.

Local branch members of the Campaign for Real Ale say they have been busy surveying pubs in Stourbridge, Amblecote, Lye, Halesowen and Shell Corner and have drawn up lists of the beers available to mark the special fortnight which can be found on Stourbridge & Halesowen CAMRA's Facebook page.

Members found more than 50 different beers available in a dozen pubs in and around Stourbridge town centre, including Batham’s and Holden’s, along with beers from other local breweries and smaller breweries from further afield, plus familiar regional beers.

Branch members also surveyed a handful of pubs in Amblecote, where more than 20 different beers are available.

And following a successful social event, members recorded some 25 different beers available in four pubs along the Stourbridge Road in Halesowen (Short Cross).

Twenty different beers are also available at five venues around Shell Corner (including Fixed Wheel Brewery), and another 20 different beers in six venues in and around Lye (including Beat Brewery and Green Duck Brewery taps).

Steve Pratt, press officer for the branch, said: “We hope everyone will head to their local pubs and sample the superb range of real ales that are currently available in our area.

"We’re really spoilt for choice in Stourbridge and Halesowen, with over 130 beers available in more than 30 pubs and brewery taps.

"By doing so, you’ll not only enjoy a few excellent beers, but also contribute to the successful future of our local pubs and breweries.

"It’s truly a beer festival every day in this area."

This year 's National Pub Fortnight is supporting CALM (the Campaign Against Living Miserably).
