DUDLEY'S hospital trust is host an open day for potential new theatre and critical care staff keen to find out more about a career there.

The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting registered nurses and operating department practitioners at Bands 5 and 6 to the busy department.

Staff work across 14 theatres, including a trauma theatre operating seven days a week and an emergency theatre operating 24 hours a day.

There are also two obstetric theatres and a theatre dealing with aneurysms plus two treatment rooms for minor surgery, and an operating theatre at Corbett Outpatient Centre at Amblecote.

The trust is also looking for registered nurses to work in critical care.

People interested in finding out more are invited to an open day on Saturday September 11 between 9am and 3pm.

Jack Richards, divisional chief nurse for surgery, women and children, said: “The Dudley Group is known for its family feel and we want potential new members of staff to experience that for themselves, which is why we are holding the open day.

“It’s also a place to build a rewarding career. We are committed to developing our staff, and now offer a progression opportunity from Band 5 to Band 6 based upon clinical experience.

“Nurses wanting either full or part-time work are welcome, and we are happy to look at flexible working arrangements.”

The critical care unit, which comprises 33 beds, is looking for caring, motivated Band 5 nurses with an interest in critical care.

Lesley Smith, deputy matron for critical care, said: “Whether a newly qualified or an experienced Band 5 nurse looking for a new challenge, our commitment to you is that we will support, nurture and develop you into a competent critical care nurse."

The open day is a chance for interested people who fit the criteria to meet the team, have a look round and ask questions. Interviews can be held on the day.
