A CHARITY golf day in memory of a well-respected sales director at an Oldbury firm has raised more than £13k for Macmillan Cancer.

Shaun Ford, who worked at Oldbury firm Alutrade, died towards the end of last year after battling cancer.

The married father-of-two had worked for the firm, based in Tat Bank Road, for more than 30 years, having started there in 1987.

Alutrade wanted to do something in his memory and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, which helped Shaun, so it organised a charity golf day, which was held on Monday (September 13) and raised a staggering £13,200 for the charity.

Ed George, Commercial Manager at Alutrade, said: "We had 84 participants and raised an amazing £13,200 in Shaun’s memory.

"Due to the success of the event we plan on doing it all over again in 2022!"

The firm thanked Handsworth Golf Club for hosting the event.

Shaun lived with his family in Wombourne.
