WORK is underway to build a development of 14 new homes in Stoke Prior.

The Ravensbank development, based by the canalside on Westonhall Road, is the first residential development by Ravensbury Homes and is being marketed by estate agency Nicol & Co.

A 52-week construction project is underway to build five affordable and nine market-priced properties.

It comes as more than 200 new Barrett Homes on the same road have already been snapped up by homebuyers.

Michael Fletcher, managing director of Ravensbury Homes, said: “I’ve launched Ravensbury Homes to create high-quality developments of varying house types, something a little bit different to the usual mass market schemes.

“For example, Ravensbank includes six different types of lay-out for the nine market-priced homes, and the majority of the units will have bespoke studies designed on the ground floor, providing dedicated spaces that reflect our new hybrid working.

“These homes’ proximity to the canalside and semi-rural location will give home-buyers the ability to get into the countryside quickly, but still be close to the motorway when they need to go to the office.”

Ravensbury Homes is using Bromsgrove-based contractor Tricas Contruction Ltd to build Ravensbank.

The Ravensbank name pays homage to John Corbett, a 19th century industrialist who based his salt works in Stoke Prior and built much of the village’s infrastructure. It reflects the “raven” on the crest of the Corbett family’s coat of arms, and the “bank” of the canal location.

Matt Nicol, managing director of Nicol & Co, said: "New homes in Stoke Prior have been selling like hotcakes and so this new Ravensbank development couldn’t have come at a better time.

“The specially crafted designs will be a real plus element and we are looking forward to handling what we predict will be strong interest in these new homes.”
