FIREFIGHTERS had to cut the roof off a car to free a driver hurt in a Halesowen car crash.

The accident happened in Woodbury Road at the junction of Hagley Road West at around 8.30am this morning (Wednesday October 13).

Medics and firefighters were at the scene of the two-car crash with firefighters cutting the roof off a Fiat to free the female passenger.

She was then taken to the QE Hospital.

Watch commander Richard Merker, from Haden Cross Fire Station, said the other vehicle involved was a Peugeot.

The female driver of this vehicle was unhurt.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a two car RTC at 8.23am this morning at the junction of Hagley Road West and Woodbury Road.

"One ambulance attended.

"The driver of one car, a woman, was assessed by the ambulance crew and due to her condition had to be extricated from the vehicle with help from the fire service.

"The woman received treatment on scene before being conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham."
