UPDATE- The motorway has now fully reopened.

A BODY has been discovered near to Spies Lane bridge, Halesowen.

Emergency services were called just before 9.40am on Sunday, October 17 to the incident.

The northbound M5 is shut between Junction two for Oldbury and Junction three for Quinton and will remain closed for some time.

Drivers are being urged to find alternative routes while police identify the deceased.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “The northbound M5 is shut between junctions 2 and 3 after a body was discovered near the side of the road. 

"We're at the scene near to the Spies Lane bridge, Halesowen after being called just before 9.40am, as we establish what's happened and identify the person.

"The road is likely to remain closed for some time. Drivers should find alternative routes and follow the instructions of police and @HighwaysWMIDS at the scene. 

"The charity @samaritans is available 24/7 if you need someone to listen."
