A 94-YEAR-OLD woman has been left heartbroken and in shock after her father's war medals were stolen when masked men raided her home in Oldbury.

Three men smashed the glass back door and stormed into the pensioner's home off Hilltop Road at around 7.10pm last night (Saturday November 13).

Police said the elderly woman was not harmed but has been left very shaken by the incident in which she was threatened with violence to open her safe where the war medals were kept.

Two round WWI medals with ribbon and the engraving ‘TA Morris’ were taken along with a Queen Victoria ‘Goblet Florin’ - a two shilling piece minted in 1800 - and a five shilling piece made into a brooch were all stolen in the raid along with cash and jewellery.

Detective Sergeant Ian Comfort, from CID at West Midlands Police, said: “The woman is understandably heartbroken that her father’s war medals have been taken from her and is desperate to be reunited with them.

“We are carrying out urgent enquiries to try and find those responsible."

He urged anyone with information about the incident or that could help reunite the items with their rightful owner to get in touch with officers via Live Chat on the West Midlands Police website, or call 101 and quote 20/1478678/21.
