A HALESOWEN school has won an award for its work on encouraging children to read for pleasure.
Lapal Primary was praised by judges for its "inspirational" work in motivating children to want to read.
The school in Priory Road has been given the Farshore Reading for Pleasure Teacher Award - in the category 'Whole School.’
Headteacher Joanna Turner said: "We are so proud of the recognition we have received for our inspiring work around reading for pleasure and for the steps we have taken to build a highly effective reading community."
Laura Atkinson, Project Lead & Associate Deputy, said: "Two years ago, I engaged in the local Teachers Reading Group network where our journey first began.
"Our vision was to ensure that not only do our pupils become proficient readers, but they also develop a love of literature and take pleasure in reading."
Ofsted has also recognised the school for its commitment to reading.
