EMERGENCY work to make railway embankments safe in Rowley Regis is underway with three-way traffic lights in place for four weeks.

The work is being carried out by Network Rail after a land slip on an embankment near Rowley Regis train station on Station Road.

Temporary 3-way traffic lights will be on Avenue Road, opposite Dyfed Steels, from today (Monday November 22) until Friday December 17.

Work will take place on weekdays between 7am and 7.30pm and overnight on Saturdays from 11pm until 9am on Sunday mornings.

The firm said: "For four weeks, our teams will be carrying out repairs to the earth banks leading down to the tracks just south of Rowley Regis station.

"The work will ensure the embankments remain safe and reliable for both rail passengers and the local community."

The firm said that it had not been able to give a lot of notice to local residents as "the work is taking place following a minor land slip on the embankment, so has been arranged quickly to make sure the embankment is safe and secure."
