THERE will be fun for all the family with free children's rides and market stalls in Cradley next week when the Christmas lights switch-on is held.

The Mayor of Dudley councillor Anne Millward will do the honours on Friday December 3 at The Laurels car park on Windmill Hill.

The switch-on event runs from 4pm till 6.30pm and is being organised by Cradley Residents' Association. There will be family entertainment, Black Country Radio, free children's rides and market stalls.

The mayor will switch on the lights at 6pm.

Cradley councillor Natalie Neale said it was the first time known that the mayor had switched on the lights in Cradley.

She said: "Using community forum money the application I put in was approved for more lamp post lighting for Colley gate and a bigger 28ft tree with lights for Wollescote."
